Size 11
Sharps needles are best known as "all purpose" hand sewing needles. They are longer and finer than the Betweens/Quilting needle. Sharps are also shorter and finer than Straw needles. Some prefer Sharps needles for simple mending tasks, others like it for hand applique and still others prefer to use Sizes 8 and 9 for hand quilting. The Size 11 Sharps is extremely fine and much shorter than the Size 11 Straw needle. For those with small hands, this needle is preferred for hand applique.


Size 10
The Size 10 Sharps is thin and much shorter than the Size 10 Straw needle. It is slightly longer and a little thicker than the Size 11 Sharps. For those with small hands, this needle is preferred for hand applique.

Size 9
The Size 9 Sharps is thicker and longer than the Size 10 Sharps needle. Many quilters who use a hoop or a frame for hand quilting prefer this size.
